About MyFrost.date
MyFrost.date provides frost date information for thousands of weather stations worldwide. Knowing your frost dates is essential for successful gardening – it helps you know when to start seeds, transplant seedlings, and protect your plants from cold.
Data Sources
Frost dates are calculated from historical weather station records sourced from NOAA's Global Historical Climatology Network (GHCN), which aggregates data from national weather services including NOAA (US), Environment and Climate Change Canada, the Australian Bureau of Meteorology, the UK Met Office, and other government agencies worldwide.
Where GHCN data is not available, data from Open-Meteo is used.
All data represents historical averages (over 20+ years) and should be used as guidelines – actual frost dates can vary year to year. Mother nature will do her thing, no matter what the data says 😉.
Hardiness Zones
Most USDA Hardiness Zones shown on station pages are calculated using the extreme minimum temperatures for a station. When that data is not available, zones are estimated using the minimum daily temperature averages. For official zone designations, consult the USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map.
